When designing this booklet for NorthStar Church Network, containing a DVD about Sabbaticals for pastors, I recommended a larger size than they had planned — a smaller printed piece could get lost on the desk of a busy pastor. The DVD was mounted on a button located on the inside back cover. I also shot the cover photo in addition to most of the photographiy in the booklet.
Using DHS branding guidelines, I designed both this and the previous version of this 5.5 X 8.5 booklet for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The previous version had the largest printing I ever submitted, with 265,500 copies ordered in November 2007 and an additional order in April 2008 of 110,500 copies for nationwide distribution.
Cornerstone, part of DHS-ICE, investigates financial crime. I designed the entire booklet, including the circular graphic on page 3. The Operation Money Movers brochure shown on page 5 was one I designed as well. For the cover, I took the photograph of the rack of gift cards, seen on the right-hand side of the cover collage which I created using Photoshop.
Large corporations in the D.C. area are familiar with the annual AFCEA Bethesda Chapter's Benefit Gala for the Children's Inn at NIH. I became involved with them when I worked for SAIC. In 2008, I designed the 30-page booklet and by 2010, I was also designing an additional table brochure. I suggested we hold an art contest for the children and the work of art that won first prize was added to the cover. Other works were printed on the back cover.
In order to design these Federal Detention Facility Handbooks for DHS-ICE, text was translated into Spanish and a Spanish version created. To make the handbook less harsh, photos of detainees and the facilities were added. One of the local detention centers also needed a handbook in Portuguese (not shown) which I also designed using Adobe InDesign.
As an independent contractor for General Dynamics, I was added to a contract to design graphics for DHS-ICE from 2003 until 2010, and designed this booklet, using Adobe InDesign. There were very few photographs for this booklet, so I created the photo collage for the cover, using Adobe Photoshop.
This was a binder cover created for Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church, VA. I also designed the small logo on the back, shown here on the left. This theme was repeated with posters and other printed materials for the series of adult classes held by the church.
I designed this book for DHS-ICE and with 8 chapters, it was more than 100 pages, filled with photographs, maps and advice for State and Local Police.
Because of my many years of working on corporate proposals that required the submission of volumes bound in 3-ring binders, it was easy to create educational binders for the training programs held by DHS-ICE.
